Here's the deal, i want to get a s/s braided brake line for my XJ650 because the old line is...well old and didnt age very well. and aftermarket braided line is cheaper than stock replacement.
So. I call Mopac Auto Supply in Langley, the guy i talked to the first time said the line itself is about 20 or 30 bucks, and fittings another 10 bucks, but they don't build them. they may or may not have a pre-built line.
So, since i'd be going to langley i called Supersport Motorcycles on the langley by-pass. our conversation went like this :
" Hello, Supersport"
*Hi, do you build braided brake lines?*
" It'll be about .....80 dollars in parts and about 20 labor, total around 110 with tax"
* 80 is pretty expensive, what if i buy the parts at Mopac, would you...*
"You go build it yourself if you buy the parts at Mopac, for the 20 dollars i get for putting it together i really could care less".
* So you wouldn't just build it?*
"No, its not worth it, i'm not making any money"
* You're a prick <click>*
So not only he wanted to charge me 2x for the parts of what Mopac would, he wouldn't even do the work because its not worth to bother for the 20 bucks of labor he'd do.
WTF?! i thought motorcycle people were supposed to be somewhat helpful to each other, not be greedy and try to rip each other off.
I called Mopac again and got a diff guy on the phone, asked him about who builds them, after a short convo figures they also sell pre-built lines of various length. i'll try my luck tomorrow there, or at some other bike shop. i heard Imperial does braided lines to size.
