Sooooooo this morning on my way to a meeting on my day off (about 3km from home) I made a left on a side street on cold tires and lowsided. First time I ever dropped the bike. Sliders did their trick to protect my 3 week old paint, aftermarket Gilles rear sets will need a replacement shift lever (peg is ground down too but not bad enough to replace, these are some HARD ASS rear sets!) clutch lever has SMALL scratch... generator cover ground down so far that it leaked ALL the oil out in the 30 seconds it was down. Oh yeah, mirror snapped clean off. Other than that, bike is absolutely unscathed, very impressive for the 25+ foot slide.
I only slid about 15 feet. The kicker is my jacket was at the shop to be resized for me. ONLY time I wasn't wearing a jacket and I bail. Had gloves, boots and helmet. I hit the ground with my left forearm and dislocated my shoulder, scraped my forearm and got two abraisions on my hip and knee. 4 hours in the emerg (after I looked after the bike ), 35mg of morphine, and 4 people to pop the arm back in the socket and I was back on my feet (mind you slightly wobbly)
Some of the questions that were answered by this incident:
-Yes I can pick up my bike (even with a dislocated shoulder RAWR!)
-Cold tires are not a myth
-frame sliders are worth EVERY penny
-last but not least Morphine ROCKS and so do the staff at the westminster hospital (whatever the name if it is)
Thanks for your time, ride safe and if you have a left mirror for a 929 or any pair that will fit PM me. Oh, and I've included an XRAY of my shoulder for your viewing pleasure!
