I have been dying of heat stroke since Sunday so its taken me a while to get to this.
First off I want to apologize for the mechanical problems we encountered. Who woulda thought TWO clip ons would break in the same day? And no Ty, as much as I want to, I cannot blame you for creating a lower upper and an upper upper. We've always had something go wrong, usually just the pull starters which are easily fixed. Sunday was a record.
Many thanks have to be given out here. I had plenty of help Sunday and I am very greatful for it, as there is no way I could do this on my own.
Carl volunteered to do waiver signing and collect payments. I gave him a call late Saturday nite asking him to hunt down a hand stamp. The guy came thru. Carl, Sunday would have been a complete write off without your help. The "Event Staff" t shirt was classic!
Jim, Teresa, Adam Lowe, and Carl all came out early to help set up the track, get the bikes prepped, and get things organized before everyone else showed up. Chad was a big help in getting the track layout to the point where we weren't going to kill ourselves in corners. Jim made TWO trips to Canadian Tire for us to get little parts we needed to try to keep going.
There were two guys there that we bug the crap out of all week, trying to get our bikes fixed by them. They twist wrenches on our toys, stay late in the shop tuning carbs, changing tires, and keep us on the road. We smash em, they fix em. 5 days a week of that is bad enough, but on Sunday both John and Mike Bowman were tearing apart pocketbikes when we started having problems. Above and beyond the call of duty. You guys are gonna see a lot of extra stuff in your Christmas stockings this year for all the things you do for us.
Thanks to Kel for getting a clip on welded up fast for us, so we were not down to just one bike. We are now inspecting all the clip ons so we don't have problems like that any more.
Holly and Tyler did a great job of picking up the video camera. Ty, your colour commentary deserves an award of some kind. And the video will not be 8 months as you mentioned. Probably 9 for that comment!
Tyler, Ang, and the goped boys stuck around well after everyone was gone to help pack up. 200 cones get collected faster with help!
And then there is a big thanks for everyone that came out to watch, and ride. There had to be at least 40 or more there for most of the day. Great turnout! Hopefully more of you will be getting on for rides next time out.
We learned a lot Sunday. What should happen, what can't happen, and what we need to fix for next time out. Its only going to get a lot better and a lot more fun.
Thanks to everyone for wanting to be a part of the silliness called pocketbikes!
