Yesterday I rode with 4 of my buds out to Chiliwack, Harrison, Stave and back to Maple Ridge. The trip was loads of fun. It was also the first time I rode the back roads around Mission since my friend Ryan died on May 3rd. At one point we past a farm on Dale road, where Ryan and I used to stop for a cigarette and chat during our relentless pursuit of twisties and fun roads. The spot has a certain serenity and peace about it. Just a couple of big ass Pine trees in a green meadow. The sun was always shining there. It is a better place to stop and remember him than his crash site. As I past that spot I was flooded with fond memories of those many rides. The ride from Harrison to Maple Ridge is one of my favourites and even more so when you take Sylvester road and hit those fun twisties coming out at the Stave Damn. I said a fond hello and a prayer for Ryan as I past our rest stops. It's been 2 months but I still miss that guy. I know I always will. I am glad I did not lose my love for riding and instead took it easier. I know Ryan is looking out for us. A few of us ride with one of his favourite words on our windshields, "Gongshow". Life is a "Gongshow" for sure.
