does full exhaust need upgraded ECU?
getting a new gixxer600 on wednesday and i need to know if u need a upgraded ecu for a full exhuast? i heard u only need to if the bike is not fuel injected. am i correct?
My friend OmegaRed has a fuel injected RC51 with aftermarket pipes, and I believe he requires a powercommander for a more stable idle.

A couple points:

1. You do not need to upgrade your ECU -- the factory ECU is sufficient.
2. You do not NEED to, but most likely will want to add a power commander, EMS or similar device. Whenever you modify either the intake or the exhaust, you must alter the amount of fuel fed to optimize the performance. Contrary to what some believe, the current fuel injection on gixxers is an "open-loop" system. Accordingly, gixxers do not have an oxygen sensor, nor does the ECU automatically adjust fuel input to achieve and "ideal" a/f ratio.
3. I have a full hindle system on my 600 and can attest that the power curve had noticeable flat-spots before I hooked-up my PC. Once again, you do not need to install a PC, EMS etc., however, you will find that driveability is less than ideal without one. Personally, I would not recommend installing a full system without a PC, EMS etc.
