Date: Sunday - August 7th
Meeting Time: 10:30am
Meeting Place: science world overflow parking lot quebec st/1st street (near some gelato place and behind burger king on main)
Duration: Approximately 1/2 hour to organize, 3-4 hours of riding with multiple breaks and however long you want to chat and hang out at the end of the ride
What: This is the first ever (that I've seen anyway) Scavenger ride. The ride will mostly consist of lower mainland checkpoints. Each team is to complete a list of photo-tasks. There are no items to collect, only photographs! i.e.) Item #1 may say - take a picture of your team, each on your bike, in front of Starbucks on robson/thurlow. (ok, it won't be that cheesy, but you get the point) There will be opportunity for bonus points. This is not a race and the winning team will be determined based on their total points at the end of the hunt.
Who: Anyone and everyone (sportbike, cruisers, whatever) 2-up if you like. All experience levels. This is not a race.
Liability: The pace is up to you and your team. By showing up and coming on this ride, you are agreeing that you and only you are responsible for the safety of you and/or your passenger. You are also expected to have a valid BC class 6 or an MST novice license provided you have proper supervision accompanying you. Please ride safe and do not endanger yourself or anyone else. This ride is not setup by any organization or company. It is purely for fun, non-profitable and you get to meet a lot of local riders.
Teams: Maximum 6 bikes (up to 12 people if 2-uping) Please pick 1 captain for your team!!! Captains, e-mail me email@example.com ASAP, but no later than August 2nd. You do not have to do much besides being my point of contact (because it will be too much to try and speak to so many people at once), and collecting the money from your team. In the case that we have an odd number of people exceptions will then be made to add 1 rider to some of the teams, otherwise you will be re-assigned to form a new team of 6 if there are enough single riders.
Do not have enough riders for a team? Please e-mail me by August 1st to be placed in a team or have other riders assigned to your team to complete your team of 6. EACH TEAM MUST BRING A DIGITAL STILL CAMERA w/ a PC connection so I can load the pics into my laptop).
Cost: $2.00 CDN per person - Captains, please collect the fee for your entire team for me, I don't want to carry a backpack full of toonies on the day of... if you can not pay me beforehand, please have the money ready on the day of the ride.
Prize: The winning team will share the money pot, as collected from all participants. The more riders, the bigger the prize! I will also do my best to get some prize donations by the time of the ride. If there happens to be a draw, the tying team names will be thrown into a hat and the winning team will be determined by a draw.
Although it is 6 bikes per team, you may join your ride with other teams, you don't want to end up with the same # of points though. This will be a lot of fun! There will be a lot of fun destinations on the list and none where your ass will hate you the next day! For those of you who went on the Newbie North Shore Ride or the Squampton + Noobies ride, you know this all about meeting other riders, having lots of fun and doing something on an otherwise lazy Sunday! Now... who's in?
