Meh...can't figure out how to insert pics in b/t paragraphs...
So I decided to go for a little weekend road trip this past weekend. I packed very light, thinking that "chance of shower" is just going to be sprinkles! (and I was very wrong)
I left Vancouver at 3:45 am on Saturday, and headed east on Hwy 1. By the time I got to Hope, I was soaking wet and cold. Gassed up, continued on Hwy 1 northbound. Rain finally stopped at 70 mile house, but the temperature was still fairly low. Finally, I dried up by the time I got to Prince George around lunch time.
The ride up to Prince George on Hwy 97 was definitely scenic, but if you want twisties, be prepared to be disappointed.
At Prince George, I stopped for a chocolate bar and beef jerky for lunch. From Prince George, I went east on Hwy 16 towards McBride. Half way to McBride, I had to stop and get a shot of my lucky number.
Does the road look straight to you? Yes, it was.
From McBride, I headed towards Jasper. Here's a pic of Moose Lake.
A pic without the bike? Ok...coming right up...
A few more kilometers later, I had to stop because these guys took up the pavement.
From that point on, the rain started again. Then all through stretch of Hwy 93 from Jasper to Lake Louise was freezing rain. By the time I got to Lake Louise, it was snowing and hailing. I couldn't feel the heat from my heated vest because it was soooo cold. By this point, the "fun" factor of the ride was diminishing fast.
By Canmore, I have lost the screw/bolt that holds the clutch lever in place, so I put a keychain ring through the hole to make sure I don't lose the lever. I wondered why I was stopped in the middle of nowhere trying to fix the lever, and why on earth did I decide to go for a "small road trip". Finally, at 9 PM BC time, I rode into Calgary. I showed up at my friend's door and I think my lips were turning blue from the cold. They proceeded to call me crazy and threw me in the hot shower and fed me.
Sunday morning, 7 am BC time, I left Calgary, headed west to come home. I didn't stop to take any pics, coz I just wanted to get home. The ride home was somewhat uneventful, expect the part where a guy through a glassbottle out his car window at me (coz I had passed him earlier, probably pissed him off). The bottle landed 2 meters in front of me and just exploded into a cloud of shattered glass. I had no time to react, so rode right through it. Good thing I had full gear on and visor down, otherwise I'm sure I'd get some cuts.
2,900 km round trip...I think I'm gonna take a few days off riding.
