PC IIIr problems
I just recently bought a used PCIIIr for my 02 Yamaha R1. I connected the unit as specified, and found it to change the behaviour of the bike – although for the worse. I have a high-mount mig pipe, and Graves velocity stacks. I used the MIG high mount exhaust, the Micron high mount exhaust maps, and finally the stock R1 maps found on the PC web site. Each map behaves the same, in that it violently surges around 3-4000rpm. The ignition seems to cut off, or hesitate for a second, then BANG it comes on with a dangerous surge. The exhaust pops like hell now too.
I don’t know what to do. Please help me.
Tomorrow i will run the map with 0s all across. If does the same.. then i guess i have a faulty PC. Does this sound like a correct assumption?
this is all set on the stock map and it still does it?is the timing all set at zero as well?
and is a it a brand new one or was it bought new?retrieve the map in it and see what the fuels like at that rpm and throttle openings.
it could be a bad pc3 as well.
Forget it. The ignition curve was bad, and I thought the software uploaded both the fuel, and ignition curves at the same time. ignition curve was -22 all over the map. Not good.
Now all is good – actually its great! The added power and response down low spins my tire all over the place where before would just take off fast.
Have yet to rev to redline yet (as I just rode in the city for a quick test) but I expect more ear to ear smiles.
So happy! well....until i get used to this power in a week. hehe
