I have had my 04 600RR Black for a nearly a year now and have put many a ride on it. Have to say it is the most uncomfortable bike I have ever ridden but love the lifted rear and lowered nose stance. Anyways, this year I have done two major trips. One being the Ironbutt Saddle Sore and the other being a trip to Smithers.
Getting the bike out on the open highway, a safer place to show me her legs was a delightful experience but after riding with many a conpadre with a litre bike, I found my new toy a bit underpowered, lagging and wimpy.
SO, I got her a new set o gears. One down for the front and four up in the rear. With a 520 DID.
WOW I have to say its a completely new bike and alot more fun to ride. Had her out on the Inland Island highway yesterday and if it wern't for the 16K redline who knows how fast it might go. You will notice the most difference in second and third gear, the power is incredible. The service manager who sold the parts to me said the bike would now top at 250-255 but thats not true, more like 280-285 if you can keep the orange light off.
So if your like me. A bigger guy and finding your 6rr less of a bike when around litres, do a cheap easy fix and get a new set of gears.
