New Bike... rattle?
Hey guys, bought a new bike about three weeks ago and I just have a few questions.
It seems that after the bike warms up it tends to knock... or is it more of an engine rattle? Either way I took it back to the dealership for its 1000k and asked about it. Was told to put some higher octane gas in there and that should fix it back up. I told him I was already putting 91 Octane in and he said to try 94. Now for the questions. Does a Gs500 really need 94 octane? And if that dosn't fix it up what else could be causing it?
I enjoy the bike but the knocking makes it sound pretty cheap and any help would be appreciated.
Well from suzuki's docs it was designed to 'work' on 83+ (worse than regular) so 91 should be fine, knock/rattle may have something to do with the oil loop (I know some mazda cars get a lifter ping if they don't have the oil right at the full mark), or it may be with burn in period and settling (though I've never seen this as a normal thing, maybe a week bit in power due to 'over tight' seal in pistons and rings but not a rattle). Beyond that I'd suggest getting a gear head to have a listen to it and see if he can diagnose what specifically is causing it as may be something as simple as a slightly loose/mal-aligned fastner that rattles when the pistons top on their cycle or something much more interesting.
