Just a heads up. West Vancouver has grooved the pavement WITHOUT WARNING SIGNS on Marine Drive in the 5000 block, right in the twisties. Yesterday they had only a "High Manholes" warning sign. I called to complain, and they installed a sign that says "uneven pavement". By the time you see this sign it is too late.. and the pavement is FAR from uneven. It is GROOVED and is covered in LOOSE GRAVEL.
I spoke with their manager of engineering who REFUSED to put up a warning sign stating that the pavement is "milled" and not grooved. He is wrong. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to look at the pavement and see the grooves.
He outright refuses to put up warning signs for motorcyclists.
I would urge all motorcyclists to call and voice your displeasure with the blatent disregard for your safety.
West Vancouver District's # is 604 925 7000 and the after hours line is 604 925 7100 .
The guy felt that since he had traffic control there till 5pm that he didnt need warning signs... I asked him who would be there to warn motorcyclists and others for the weekend...
He had no answer.
West Vancouver District must have more money than brains. All it takes is one accident.
How hard is it to put up a STANDARD WARNING SIGN??
Everywhere else when they groove the pavement they put up a warning sign, but West Vancouver feels that they are above SAFETY AND SHOW A CARELESS DISREGARD FOR ALL MOTORCYCLISTS.
