Well I finally made an attempt to go for a mini bike trip to Kelowna (from burnaby)... but embarassingly I just never got there by following #1...... . Ended up in Kamloops, ... Logan Lake, ... then Merritt... then I gave up after riding 400kms and then I see: Kelowna 200kms... Apparently I missed the pepsi highway in Hope?
Anyways, I just had some questions about highway riding. It was a hot day (went by a small forest fire a bit after hope, there were a couple helicopters dumping water), but I thought i'd cool down when I reached 100kms/h or so. But this wasnt the case. It was like hot air was blowing at me and I felt hot all the time even at 100++ speeds. I was wearing a mesh textile, jeans, boots, helmet, gloves and a backpack riding a 600RR. The bike stayed around 85degs. So is it supposed to be so hot?
Another question is about gas. Do you guys who frequent trips find that there are not enough gas stations? I almost ran out of gas at one point at Logan Lake, I think I had maybe 5kms left of gas before I filled up. I guess touring bikes have bigger tanks and have no problems, but what about the sportbike guys' experiences?
