Ok, my question is going out there to any police officers or those who know their law through and through. I'm having a pest control issue in my yard. The place is overrun by squirrels and I have taken lots of steps to try to solve the issue with hoses, etc. I don't want to resort to actually killing these things, but they are destroying my yard. Poison is not an option because a poisoned squirrel actually helps to create more pests as it rots away somewhere and can let off diseases. So my motion activated sprinkler keeps all other vermin out including racoons, but the squirrels are too stuborn. Okay, background done, now to the question:
I have a small BB/Pellet gun that is considered a "plinker" and only shoots about 200 feet per second. Is it legal to use this to shoot the squirrels that come into my yard? Unless I am shooting at point blank range, this wont even break the skin, but may sting them a bit to keep them out. I just don't want to get in trouble with the law for shooting the pests.
