Now that I have your attention (sicko's)
My race weekend went to shits when my bike (01 f4i) started to crap out part way through second gear and refused to go consistently into third. It would pull part way up the rev range in 2nd, and then my drive would temporarily stop (not sure what RPM), and it would feel as though my tire was spinning(it wasn't). Third gear engagement was a major problem, to the point that I would miss the shift and redline the motor coming out of 9,2,and 3. At that point I called it quits (ok, so the race was over). Anyways, I guess I should have seen this coming, as my sloppy shift linkage, and maybe not so graceful clutchless shifts have caused many a missed shift throughout the season.
My questions are; 1. Is it worth having the tranny rebuilt? What can I expect to pay for parts, labour, etc.?
2. If a low-mileage motor was available, what would be a reasonable price to pay for a used motor? (I like this idea since the current motor has three race seasons and approx 18k on it, and the motor has to be dropped anyway for the tranny work.)
Obviously I won't make the mistake again of running sloppy shift linkage and possibly a poorly positioned shifter. Also, I'm gonna try a GP shift to see if I can get more positive shifts.
