i was a little irritated by RMS because of the service i received from there. not only did it take me more than 20 minutes to find someone to help me, each person i spoke with happened to be "just helping out" and couldnt tend to customers because they were busy on the computers. i would have expected a lack of service during rush hour or when hours are really busy (weekends) but i was there in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday.
having worked in retail sales before, i can tell you that if you're on the floor and a customer flags you down, you dont tell them you cant help them. at least make an attempt at flagging down someone who can. it's makes a business look bad when a customer talks with three separate individuals, all whom are "helping out" the business, but cant help you.
another issue was how RMS lures clients into their store. i was asking about a specific bike they had over the phone. i left my number with a sales guy and almost immediately, i get a response back. the sales guy told me some sketchy details but most importantly to come in and take a look at the bike. the next day i'm at RMS and the bike in question has been sold. sure, i didnt put a deposit on it, but i would have appreciated a phone call notifying me about it if i'm going to trek out to RMS.
the sales guy then recommends me to flo-man's bike. at least i think it was Flo-man's previous bike (silver 01 cbr 600 f4i). it has the sticker "Flo-man" on it. dude, you worked the hell outta that bike.
afterwards, i did a lil digging and it turns out RMS had sold the bike days before i had even called into the store about it; yet the sales guy encouraged me to come in and check out the bike. now i'm not going to rule out that RMS isnt at fault, but they dont work with paper; they work on computers. if the bike has been sold, it would have been entered into the computers at the end of the day.
so unless the sales guy is incompetant, or it's just another guy who's "just helping out", someone's lied. although ive had friends with normal/ave experiences at RMS, this sort of thing has turned me off from their businesses. i dont plan on buying stuff from their establishments ever. if anyone plans to buy something there, be careful. buyer beware.
