No disrespect to the Island brothers, those boys can ride. We do have some strong competitors here though, and we gave the boys a good run for their money.
Troy was on fire on day 2, he took a first place finish a Open Pro class race. Finishing in front of Barry Remple.
Day 1 I had a strong finish in Open Pro also. I finished 2nd to Barry Remple. If I could stop making mistakes I might have been able to put a move on him earlier but decided to try and make my move closer to the end. Barry being the cagey vetran that he is, shut the door. I was still stoked to run 2nd in the Open Pro for that race.
Keep in mind, the overall for the two days put Remple on the top podeum spot. We still ended up getting some cash back though, it was all good.
Vancity riders that ended up coming out were:
Holy "I should have entered that race" Holly
Troy "the Rocket" Burstyk
Shane "the Kid" Cardwell
Tyler "I'm on a loner"
Curtis "the Pit wonder boy"
Gaston "Holeshot is my middle name" Morrison
-The Rocket, experiments with backing it in to the hairpin; highside into a nosewheely 180 with the bike landing on his head.
-Holeshot, lowsides on the big fast sweeper (runing 3rd place), sliding 60 or 70 feet, and smoked into the wall (now running last).
-The Kid, swaps out in the dirt section, tweaks his bars yet again
There is a few more highlights that I missed here but unfortunately I gotta run.
Once again no disrespect to the Island brothas, and much love and due respect to Jeff for organising a wicked event, we all had a great time and will definately be back next year. We'll be gunning for those #1 spots to, so be warned.
Stay tuned for further highlights...
