This is from a year old machine, I brought it back to FS (under warranty) for a dead video card but when they gave it back to me (1.5 months later and out of warranty) turns out the HDD is now dead and the motherboard has capacitors that have ruptured. They wont touch it anymore because this problem ONLY surfaced to them after they installed the new vid card and found that the HDD wont boot.....which was after the warranty period xpired. I've contacted FS head office and they also wont do anything past the manuf. warranty period....even though the ROOT of the problems was this.
Lesson of the story? BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY ..... now I am stuck with a dead 160 GB HDD and and bad MOBO. Apparently there are TONS of bad capacitors in market now.
I've contacted MSI (motherboard manuf) about this as they havea 2 year warranty on this part but really i expect nothing more to become of this.
So if your new PC starts acting funny (BSOD - wont boot- random errors), after eliminating the software end of things, open up the case and have a look at the capacitors. The ones that went on my MOBO were RIGHT next to the CPU heatsink. No big suprise.
Anyways if youre interseted further, there is an excellent WIKI on this whole issue.
