Now that many are sitting around and not riding, time to get a few questions answered by the resident wrench brainiacs.
1. Why do we have petcocks/gas taps? And they're only on carbureted bikes, right? Do the carbs flood or leak if left with a fuel supply? I never find any problems if I forget to turn it off overnight, although if I'm losing a bit of fuel then that's harder to determine.
Other than the convenience of a reserve.
2. I used to own a 1986 Mazda that was fuel injected. Why are bikes so long in catching up? Sportbikes started switching when, around 2000? And many bikes are still sold new with carburetors. If FI is better technology, and is in all cars (AFAIK), why not in bikes?
And why do I still see so many scooters when it rains? Don't tell me they're more hardcore than sportbike riders.
