Ferreira and I dismantelled and replaced every gasket and seal except for 1 in his SX 250 motor last night in a matter of hours. Cases were split from one side to the other....the motor came apart without any parts flying out.
We were very impressed with the internals of the KTM 2 stroke motor. Easy to work on with robust construction will enable the motor to do the business under SM revs. Especially the way FB likes to rev motors to the moon.
We were not suprised to find MADE IN ITALY parts for the AUSTRIAN company. Much of the engines layout and design resemble FERRARI like craftmanship. Quite frankly the engine internals are simplfied, compact and beefy. Big crank, big clutch, big bearings and highly webbed case construction. The mechanism that operates the power valve is dope! No electric servos.
If it can be riddin on the street it will be an Ultimate SM. Add the EXC lighting coil and its off to WEST VAN!
Will die with a 2 stroke in the garage or between the legs!
