I have a Trillium Trailer (empty weight of 925 lbs. GVW of 1200 lbs.) and I want to tow it in the summer down the west coast etc. I am somewhat leaning towards the Chev-GM-Astro-Safari minivans because from what I have been told, many of the front wheel drive minivans are not all that good for towing 950 lbs. - 1200 lbs. as the transmission and drivetrain may fry or at a minimum lose a goodly portion of it's lifespan.
Is this true or will the Dodge Caravan minivans be as reliable and long lived as the Chev-GM-Astro-Safari minivans?
The downsides to the Chev-GM-Astro-Safari minivans are poor gas mileage and truck-like operation for day to day use. Or are there website towing whizzes on some another forum that would know for sure?
