So we checked out the Seattle bike show this evening. It was pretty tame. I don't think you're getting much different than if you waited for the Abbostford show. As a matter of fact, if you're looking for some new gear, maybe a new helmet or a jacket or gloves, etc., you'll be very disappointed. There are very few vendors selling gear and what gear there is, it isn't anything that you can't pick up locally. I remember the Abbotsford show having much more variety in the way of swag.
There are some manufacturers who you won't find in Canada, such as MV Agusta and Aprilia - definately some tastey exotics but a two and a half hour drive each way, a border crossing and maybe a hotel room isn't worth oogling about 8 Italian motorcycles.
There were some cool local streetfighter Ducatis, but again, nothing "wow".
I'd say for floorspace, the Abbotsford show might even be larger than what I saw in Seattle this evening.
Mmmm... another interesting thing. I bout my tickets online and printed them out on my home printer. On the printout tickets, it mentions that the tickets would be scanned (barcode) and any subsequent print outs of the same tickets wouldn't be valid (meaning nobody could use duplicates of your tickets) but when we got to the gate, they simply grabbed the print outs and stuffed them in a box. We quite literally could have printed out a ton of copies and handed them out to friends and no one would have been the wiser.
I'm not suggesting anyone does this, I'm just remarking.
All in all, if you're waiting for the Abbortsford show, don't feel bad for missing Seattle.
