[B]Actually, the difference in heating is not due to the difference in thicknesses between the left and right side, but the material to which the heating pad is affixed. The left side goes on the aluminum clipon which insulates very poorly. Accordingly, much of the heat generated by the resitor wire is "sunk" into the clipon and not transmitted to the rider's hand. Conversely, the plastic throttle tube insulates quite well, resulting in far less heat being "lost" to the clipon. I use the Kimpex heating pads and find that my right grip gets about 20% warmer than my left grip for this reason.
