The monsoon seems to have stopped for a day.
I have 2 hours to kill after work so I jump on the bike for an around town ride.
Everything is cool. I hit West Vancouver out to Horseshoe Bay, and back downtown. Cruise Denman and Robson Streets, and then across the Burrard Bridge to the West side. Out along Jericho and Spanish Banks then around the university. Just a few raindrops. No big deal. Head back east on 41st. I turn north to get to 33rd and right on Arbutus up the s curves towards 37th and Arbutus.
This is where things get weird.
As I pass the intersection THWACK !!! something hits my bike. I have no idea but pull over to check it out. On the right side of my front fender is a paintball hit.
I am totally irate. I storm back towards the intersection. THWACK!!! off a car going by. It would appear that whoever has not finished shooting. Seems to be coming from a window above the store. I ask a guy waiting for the bus if he heard or saw anything. No such luck. I go into the store and ask if the apartment above is connected to the store. In comes bus stop guy to say he has heard another shot from just above his head. (apartment window)
I decide that this is getting out of hand and call the cops. They arrive very speedily 45 minutes later....
As I am waiting I find two teens that also have been hit. One in the chest and one in the leg. Anger is rising again.
Cop says basically that there is not much gonna come from this. All he can do is canvas the building and see what comes. I ride off after giving name address etc.
Fast forward to 8:30pm and it's Constable Friendly on the phone. They have confiscated a paintball gun and ammo. An apology letter from a distraught 15 year old is in the mail to me. Parents of little minx are very angry.
Gun to be distroyed.
What a weird ride. Maybe I shoulda hit the pub after work.
