i am no expert in engine internals or fuel burn rate etc... BUT
since people are bitching about the new R6 redline. being lower than claimed...and more importantly the PEAK POWER RPM being ~3000rpm lower...
isnt this lower peak acceptable considering the limitations of pump gas and current emissions restrictions?
by this I mean:
1) pump gas, even 94, burns quicker AND hotter than race gas..higher RPM would inherently require MORE ignition advance. running at 17500rpm could cause serious engine reliability issues
2)at 17500rpm the intake/exhaust over lap would be HUGE... and I dont think it could pass emissions without having some form of EGR... NOT what you want on a bike.
so, by this thinking...isnt reasonable to think that the STREET version of the R6 should never reach this RPM in stock trim?
BUT by including such a high RPM... race teams can definitely gain HP?
ok... I may be completely wrong... so you engine gurus speak up...
