I have a question regarding the fuel petcock for my 86 FZ600.
Is the main outlet fitting off the side of the petcock body only friction fitted to the petcock?
It's the nipple piece that the fuel lines connect to. I replaced the fuel lines and was surprised that the elbow piece came off. Didn't find a screw, bolt or washer that holds this fitting in. It's snug when I put it back.
I am in a situation where I'm not sure how the fitting was in before it came out and now I'm second guessing myself.

It's the same setup on my 86 GSXR. I discovered this after lifting the tank to replace the air filter, and the fitting came out on my next ride and poured gas all over the engine.
I pressed it back in and started checking it periodically (especially after lifting the tank) and it's been fine for over a year now. So I'd say the friction fit is adequate as long as you check it after the fuel lines get played with.
I suppose you could secure it with a twist of wire or something if you're nervous.

Thanks for the confirmation..... i can breathe a bit easier now. Still seems strange to me that they would produce the fitting like that. I'll just make it a part of the pre-ride inspection.
