I'm posting this from my real world experience, after doing road and track schools.
My personal 3 primary rules for road riding are:
1. NEVER EVER run a light. No matter how yellow or orange it is, and as tempting as it may be, don't EVER do it.
2. ALWAYS slow down for intersections, especially if you see a left-turner or someone is trying to do a right turn while stopped waiting for traffic to pass, ALWAYS slow down.
3. NEVER EVER ride in a car's blind spot, that is, from their rear bumper up to the front of their car, especially if it is a truck or semi, just don't do it.
These are my top 3 personal riding rules, I still have a dozen or so more, but I won't bore you with them. What are yours?
