I was reading the paper today at lunch and got to thinking. Is organized crime a legitimate career choice now? I mean all I ever read about is this gang or that ‘organization’ getting off on yet another charge. Then I see these people in their 10 million dollar homes in their expensive vehicles.
Organized crime is in fact glorified these days, to the point of making the honest man such as myself seem stupid for working to get ahead. I find it endlessly frustrating that I am working away, investing what I have left and hoping to be free and clear before 55.
This makes me wonder. Why don’t career counselors in schools start advising kids that they really have TWO choices. They can either go off and drop 50 thousand dollars on a advanced education, or go and get involved in organized crime and make umpteen times the amount they would make working like the average schmo. I mean this is now a legitimate option! The risks are really not that high if you think about it, you may get caught get slapped on the wrist with a fine, which you end up paying with the cash in your pocket.
Is organized crime a legitimate vocation now?
(sorry for the rant, just came to mind.)
