Im thinking of rebuilding a sportsbike as part of the plan to get back to riding with my limited funds. Now before i get into this, I though Id ask the experts on how rebuild status works with icbc and rcmp..as the parts I'd get will be sacond hand and who knows where they come from... there's been a few options that have come up, and i want to know how to do this right so that there will be no problems with icbc or re-selling the bike. if anyone has a link to a site with this general process that would help bigtime
if i buy a frame, and build a bike ground up out of second hand parts, what is the deal with the motor upon inspection with icbc? a lot of them have no number on them... it sounds sketchy to me, but i was told by some ppl that rebuild shops and wreckers always grind off the numbers on the motor and they pas inspection fine as long as they have a frame with a clear title.
That being said, does the frame have to have a vin and sticker on it? I guess when it is inspected it will get assigned a new vin and a shop will stamp it right?
pitch in your 2 cents fellas...thanks
