    Baker, duffy road conditions

I haven't seen any recent posts on the road conditions of the Duffy loop or Mt. Baker, has anyone done them this year and can report on the amount of dirt and gravel on these roads? Thanks.

I haven't seen/heard much of the Duffy Lake Road this year, I drove it in my car last summer and it was terrible. Pot holes, ruts, gravel, just not good at all.

I friend of mine just drove it last week on a 4 x 4. He said it was in very, very poor condition. No place for a sport bike. (and yes he rides)

Snow line on the Duffy is below the first Southbound Runaway lane. Still some compact snow covered patches in the shade past the lake.
85 cm of snow fell at the weather plot at Cayoosh Creek last week.

No place for a bike yet, will post again once I travel that way next.

I just did it today, and it is definitely not ready for primetime yet. Lots of sand, a short stretch of slush even, and small patches of ice in some of the shady areas.

Did it today, lots of sand/gravel, some slush in the shady bits past the lake. A few frosty/icey sections too...

Still was a blast though. Very happy I brought the heated vest along.
Sweat wipes off, road rash doesn't. But helmet laws interfere with natural selection

I spoke with Steve a bit ago, he got there quite early and there was alot of frost when he got there. He mentioned that he turned around as he was by himself & didn't want to risk it. He got a ways beyond the switchbacks from the sounds of it.

    Maybe he'll post up later
