I was up in Whistler today taking a rig down, driving a truck. Headed back around 2, and I really had to feel sorry for every rider I saw, in the line of traffic, putting along at 60kph.
So if you haven't been up this year yet, let me put it this way... There are no...zero... nada... legal places to pass from Lion's Bay to Brittania Beach, either direction. The vast majority of the trip all the way to Whistler is a 50kph construction zone as well.
If you want to take a "quick rip up to Squamish" mid-day mid-week, you will be sorely disappointed at the pace at which you will be able to take that quick rip. Sure it sucked before, but at least you could use the passing lanes and dotted line to pass the slowpokes. Not anymore. And be prepared for a few stops and some rough pavement.
So... personally... I'm going to find other places to ride, unless it's late evening (which was always better anyway).
Of course, there are still lots of non-legal places to pass, but I would never publicly endorse that.
