But alright. I'm pretty sore, and swallowing is a serious bitch, but alive and well. My bike isn't exactly in the best shape. I've pictures and such, just not sure how to put them up here.
Was coming around a long sweeping corner while heading up to Kelowna when some grey forest rat type of thing started to run out onto the road not far ahead of me at all. I started slowing down, but it still looked like it would hit. I was trying to widen my turn, but as it darted it either hit my bike tyre, or I drifted out too far and caught some of the gravel in the center of the road. Either way - Bike came out from under me and I low sided across the road. Luckily no other traffic. And yes, the way I describe it sounds like it was a slow process - but it wasn't. I'm sure there is something i could have done, no denying that, but either way - what's happened has happened. I took some weird damage, well, weird to me anyways.
I believe the piece in question is called the 'rear set' - right side - where the foot peg and brake pedal are connected. The bike went down on the right side, and I would have expected the peg or pedal to take the damage. Instead, a triangular piece took the damage. RIGHT before where the peg is connected, a perfectly vertical break. There was still enough tension from the brake spring to keep it all together, but it was too lose to use my rear brake. I'm getting someone to tig weld it here in Kelowna. Both my frame sliders ripped right out too. But that all aside... Anyone want to give me a ballpark figure on the cost of replacing both side fairings? I've never had to replace bodywork before. Just curious.
