Well I finally did it. After two years of waiting (since I got my class 6), getting married, house purchase, and renovations the list goes on. I’m finally a motorcycle owner!!!!! WHOOOOHOOOOO!!!
On the weekend we (me and my wife) picked up a sturdy older bike ’83 Kawi GPZ 550. It's not pretty, but mechanically sound and strong, just a little TLC and it will running a little smoother. I’m so psyched and can’t wait to practice at the local parking lot and hit the road. This will also be the bike I’m going to get my tools out and work on it.
I don’t know how everything mechanically works but this bike could turn out to be a great project bike. It's been spray bombed matte black by the previous owner so if you see me on the road give me a wave!
First order of business (please be patient newbie question) I have no owners manual and I’ve searched online for info could find any details. Fuel petcock position. On the bike it has a “prime”, “on”, “reserve”. When the bike is parked what position the fuel petcock should be in? I don’t want the carbs to start gumming up more and crap.
Any other info that you have please do tell.
Thanks guys for any info on this bike.
I will keep the shiny side up.
