It really bothers me when I see reckless riders out there. It's even worse when I see plain stupidity while carrying a passenger.
On Hwy 1 going eastbound yesterday just past Cariboo Exit, a fellow on a sportbike with a girl on the back (just wearing a light shirt/pants and helmet) smoked across three lanes of traffic and went in the HOV lane at an incredible amount of speed. The only thing the rider did right was shoulder check.
The HOV lane was empty for a quite a ways, while the other two lanes were busy with traffic. This was around 1500 hours. The rate of speed of the bike was far too fast compared to the speed of the 'fast' lane. I was going 100 km/h, and was left standing still. If somebody would have pulled out, it would have been game over for two people.
Come on, ride responsibly. Have respect for your passenger, especially if not wearing proper gear. How many people have to die due to reckless driving?
Sorry for the rant, but I just had to share.
Having said that, most people do ride responsibly, which is good to see. Gee, maybe they want to live! 2005 was a bad year for loss of life on this forum. Let's hope for a better year for 2006.
