as you may have gathered, i've taken the plunge back into competitive boat racing. before i got my bike license i was very active in racing, and rather successful at it. we worked on a shoestring budget, and still managed to make every race and get drunk after (the two main reasons to sail!).
this time around, it's a lot bigger. we are gearing up for some major events this summer, but even bigger ones next year. our big ideas are the van isle 360 race, swiftsure, whidbey island race week, rips, southern straights, and a one design nationals race. a vic-maui is not out of the question, just not this year's event. we've also talked about going to france and doing a month long race around the coastline. international racing would be most welcome to our program.
and that costs money. a fair chunk of change. sails, boat mods, logistics, training.. it all costs.
the team is looking for a title sponsor to help us thru this year's racing, and very strongly back us for next year. most of the team has been together for 5+ years and is very experienced. all of us have some accomplishments on our resumes; i'd say i have the least experience, and i have a north american championship under my belt. the boat we sail on has been varc boat of the year numerous times. it gets a ton of exposure in related media. it is well known, and is the boat to gun for at each race (we sometimes scare bigger class boats as we are as fast if not faster than them!).
we have a unique opportunity for a great corporate sponsor to come aboard and take us to the next level. in return, your company gets the maximum amount of exposure we can provide. sails, spinnackers, boat, crew gear, and support will all be branded. any media exposure is centered around branding.
rules for sponsorship is rather strict in the yachting world. we can't plaster a boat like a stock car. depending on the event, we can only carry 1 sponsor, and at best, 2. if we could have a ton of associate sponsors, we'd have numerous logos all over the boat. we'd do it, but we are not permitted to.
if you know of a corporation that is looking for a sponsorship opportunity, please contact me and i will have our team principal send out a package for consideration.
(and think of it this way, the more i am on the water, the less you have to put up with me on rides!)
