For those of you who are either self-employed or run a business I would like to know how you go about claiming moto stuff as a business expense.
I use my motorcycle as my primary form of transport. My wife uses the cage, I use it only if I have to (rarely) and I run my own freelance business.
I know you can claim a motorcycle as a business expense if you can demonstrate you use it as such but what about repairs and gear. Is there a line that has been drawn by CRA (Revenue Canada) on what motorcyclists can claim as a justifiable business expense if you use your bike in a business context? Bike repairs and expenses can get up there with repairs, tires, bag systems, all of which are necessary. I don't have a blinged out bike so I am not so concerned about claiming 3 grand for a new set of Ohlin forks or 2 grand for a fancy exhaust system just the usual stuff that goes along with a sport bike.
