I hoped I never would be posting one of these but a friend just e mailed me and here is part of her letter...only reason i am doing this is because there is a lesson to be learned here and i hope it makes a difference to someone and perhaps I...or we can save another person from being hurt...basically get proper instruction, buy a bike YOU can handle, ride within your ability...
19 yr old boy hit a tree.......riding his new Honda(think 650, or 700)
ThT WAS my brothers son.
He died instantly. He just got his bike (first time bike) way too much power for him, 3 wks ago. He was doubling a guy to get some snacks from the corner store, when he was supposiivly doing 140 km.. and didnt make the corner in a residential area, and hit the curb/ hit the post in tht yard knocking the passenger off... and he continued on and hit a spruce tree, killing him instantly. The bike continued through the tree branches ending up 20 ft behind him.
The passenger just got a few scratches from the ordeal, but my nephew wasnt so lucky.
So, Were going to his funeral this saturday. Lots of kids are arriving for it, as he was just one of those guys who had everything going for him. He was responsible, working on his 2 nd yr Plumbing apprenticeship/ alwys smiling/ smart/ responsible. Just had too much power under him, and not enough experience!!
So, I'm not liking fast bikes at this moment!!
