Got some idea on my dilemma here?
Got an 01 F4i... been running fine in the 2+ months I've owned it... turns over and starts a-ok every day, every time.
Just yesterday though, started it up in the morning to hear it turn over a little slower than usual before "catching"... didn't think much of it. After work, headed to a gas station, and then trying to start it, it just barely turned over, then click-click-click... nada. Dead battery (or alternator) right?
Got it home (thanks to a downhill "pop" start) and then tried one more time... nothing, no turning over, no clicks, totally dead.
But... the next morning, it turned over and started fine!?
Checked the battery terminals (they're tight), no corrosion or anything on the posts/cables.
Also, the bikes stored in a locked garage (i.e. no one screwing with it)... it is likely the orignal battery after 17,000KMs and 5 years... but that doesn't explain above...
What do you think?
Hope this mystery is solved before I have to have a mechanic dig deeper and dismantle everything to try and figure it out... obviously I'll know more in the next few days if it's starting okay, but if you got any ideas... let's hear em!
