So I'm sure this thread is gonna get knocked by anyone and everyone that has lived/lives on the Island, but for those of you that haven't ridden the Island much or at all, just wanted to give a heads up. The Island Cagers are MUCH less aware of sharing the road with bikes. Upon getting off the ferry I was nearly cut off twice, becuase people get into their Island Hwy cruise, and forget to shoulder check not expecting a motorcycle to be coming right up next to them. Its just a wake up call compared to driving here on the mainland where cars expect bikes to the point that they get fed up with them and try to run them off the road on purpose such as the s2s. So ride with care if you're planning on taking any road trips to the Island. Also, there is much more riding beside bigrigs, so look out for any logging debris, or in today's case, moving blankets that get dumped in the middle of the two lane highway!! That was freaky! And road kill. I know that this is all common sense, but just take it easy. I've seen the aftermath of an accident or two on the highway coming from Port Alberni near Parksville, and its not pretty. Nonetheless, it was a gorgeous ride today, regardless of moving trucks and RV's galore, tis the season, and its only gonna get worse! Ride safe everyone and be aware! But most importantly, HAVE A FREAKIN BLAST!!
