A friend is gearing up to do the West Coast Trail later this month. He's been hitting trails and things and want's to do the Chief at Squamish Monday morning.
We're leaving Surrey at 8AM to beat the heat and crowds. That should get us at the Chief sometime after 9ish.
If you'd like to join us I could arrange a meet at the Church around 8:30 and leave by 8:45.
The speed to the Chief will be noob regardless. He's in a cage and I can't remember which turn off to take after Shannon Falls.
The speed of the climb will also be casual. We're in no hurry to get to the top and we'll decide later if we go the front or back. It's about 1 1/2 hours to climb the front and about 1 hour to come down.
*****If you do come out, prepare for the climb. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. It may not be super hot yet but with the exercise you will feel it. Don't bring pop, water works but a Sports drink will be better. I'm bringing 2 liters in a Camelback.
Proper footwear because I can guarantee you will get blisters on the way down if you do not. I'm wearing my hiking boots for both riding and the climb. Try to wear something comfortable and with ankle support. I've seen too many people twist their ankles because of unsure footing.
Bring a snack. Hell it's early and after 1 1/2 hours going up the front, you may get hungry.
Shorts would be a good idea to have when you get there.
