BETTER WATCH FOR SPEEDWATCH
Chemainus, B.C, July 10th, 2006 Central Island drivers are getting a break....but just one. See your speed on the COPS Speedboard and slow down and you can avoid a ticket. Keep speeding and you will be talking to a RCMP Member with a ticket book.
Members of the Gabriola Island, Ladysmith, Parksville/Qualicum and Cedar Citizens On Patrol Speedwatch have joined with Central and South Island RCMP for a speed blitz. The COPS will have their Speedwatch Boards set up in the Nanaimo area on July 12th. Then, on July 18th it’s the turn of
Speedwatch from Lake Cowichan, Chemainus, Cowichan Bay and North Duncan/Cowichan. You will get a chance to see your speed displayed on the boards in large numbers. This will remind you that you could be exceeding the posted limits. Keep breaking the limit and you will be flagged down by Police officers from the Nanaimo, North Cowichan/Duncan and South Island Traffic Services. They won’t have a warning for you !
Here on Vancouver Island speeding vehicles are one of the major causes of crashes on your streets and Highways and the RCMP want you to slow down and live. Most drivers appreciate a warning, so consider this yours. We would rather wave at you, than wave you in for a ticket. The choice is yours.
We are joining forces with ICBC’s Loss Prevention Section and your local RCMP Members to bring you this vital reminder. Members of the RCMP South Island Traffic Services are committed to the goals of Road Safety Vision 2010. We want to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world.
