AUG 4 - Revy To Van Via Nakusp-vernon-lillooet-whistler
Hey there, I am relatively new to this forum and usually just read through the various posts b/c I live in Cochrane AB. However this Thursday Aug 3 I am riding out to Van alone for the weekend coming back on the Sun or Mon depending if I want to split it up or not. Anyway, I have 3 questions;
- If I left Revy for the Galena Bay ferry to hit the 1st or 2nd ferry out (crack o' dawn) to the Needles ferry, Vernon, Kamloops, Lillooet, Whistler, Van. what kind of time am I looking at? I know the Revy to Nakusp portion fairly well but after that I have never ridden. Is this a doable day for someone who can ride 800-1000kms a day? I would consider Revy to Kamloops and then up to Lillooet etc if the other route is to much punishment. BTW I am stopping thurs night in Revy and then finishing up on friday from there.
- Is there anyone who is interested in tagging along for this and even the return trip if possible which is up in the air still as to if I leave on the sunday or Monday. More than likely it will be Sunday aft to break up the length of ride. I am an experienced rider who will be going at a decent pace (especially when there are nice twisties.
- For the saturday night in Van is there anyone who can let me know where to go for some of the night time ride action? probably later evening type stuff.
Thanks to anyone who can help or is interested. Please reply to this or PM me if interested and we can go from there.

Nakusp to Coldstream (near Vernon) is (in my opinion) the best road in BC. From the ferry you have lots of time to get ahead of the traffic before you hit the twisties - and you'll want to be the #1 person when you get to the twisties.
I've ridden Nakusp - Vernon - Falkland - Kamloops - Merritt - Spences Bridge and back to Vancouver in a day. You should have no problems riding that route if you ride 800 - 1000 kms in a day. Going up through Lillooett and Duffy Lake through Whistler will probably add another 4 hours onto your ride. If you can stand to stay a night in Whistler I'd do that - you'd enjoy it. If not, I'd go the other route.
Have fun. Maybe there'll be a ride planned while you're in town on the weekend. If not, just post something up and I'm sure that someone will join you & show you around.

Argh you Albertans have it good. You better be buying your southern, eastern BC cottage.
I'm pressuming your coming through Golden and Rogers Pass.
Whats the time line for the trip ?
Nancy, you crazy Gal. If you have lots of time do Squires route.
Cochrane, the Vernon stop is the best for Squires route or Scoots route. Please have a sleep their and continue on.
Off the top of my head: The Greatest short distance route with party in the curves to Vany : Spallumcheen, Westside rd, 97, Green Mnt Rd, 3A, Princeton and Vany.

Thanks for the info Scooter & Squire. I plan on leaving Thursday aft and rolling into Van for Friday late aft or early eve. My mother (who I am going to visit) lives near Lions gate bridge so it might work out good in a way to come from the north through Whistler,,,,,,I think maybe.
Whaddya mean we albertans got it good????? You guys have all the sweet roads in your back yard!!! Look how far I have to go to get any satisfaction. Well, not entirely true, I just plain love to ride so any riding is good riding to me. Serious lack of decent twisties here. oh ya, and I'll probably pick up 20 more hp going from 4000 feet to sea level. Can't wait to feel what a GSXR Thou is intended to feel like.
I will definitely post something for someone to show me around for Sat or Sun night if anyone is interested. Thanks again.

Go up Cypress Bowl and take in the view of the lower mainland from the first view point after the first hill.
I live in the area, but am more likely to go far to get away from the PoPo and the city.
From my post I'm trying to say be aware of your alertness travleing that far. Doing the Duffey fullout at the end of a trip is not adviced.
Have a great play in our BC back yard. Welcome !!!
Really good, no, really really good. Thanks for asking. This was the first long trip I have done alone and I actually had a great time. I could stop where and when and for however long I wanted, somehow I managed to snap 127 photos which when I ride with buddies I am lucky to get 5 pics.
The most enjoyable roads were Barnvale road just outside Kamloops and the stretch from Cache Creek to Pemberton, LOVED IT!! A little difficult taking in the scenery and paying attention to the crap pavement for the parts I'm sure you know where I mean. Pemberton to Van scenery-wise was great of course but the traffic took away from the riding for me, plus the fact that on the entire trip I saw a total of 11 cops and 9 of them were on the Pemberton to Van stretch! Still enjoyed it enought that I came back the same way though.
I holed up one night in a B&B called Salmon River B&B which was a great little spot with a pool outside my room, that felt great after the sweltering heat of Cache Creek/Kamloops.
Can't wait to do this again.
If you mean the Needles to Vernon road, I did hit that. I do usually like that one quite a bit as well but there was a fair amount of gravel b/c they were out filling the cracks with tar and slapping gravel on it so it was a bit a of a mess.
