My girlfriend kicks ass. I've been dreaming about buying this project bodywork for my bike for the last 2 - 3 years. The problem? Money. A few months ago my girlfriend landed a pretty good job at a tech company and a month ago it was my bday so she wanted to get me something BIG. She insisted on the bodywork but I had a hard time agreeing to her spending that sort of money. Finally she convinced me when she said "You don't expect me to ride around on an old ugly bike like that do you?". And to make the decision even easier they're discontinuing this particular style of bodywork AND it was on sale for about $80 USD off.
So here we have it...
Aside from the fairings I've got a couple of other things on the list. I'm planning on replacing the wheels with a set from an old CBR600 Hurricane. From what I've read this isn't too complicated requiring only a small amount of machining on the rear wheel to get it to fit onto the swingarm. At the same time I'll be replacing the front and rear sprockets and the chain following the little incident I had a few weeks ago. I was hoping to be able to install the fairings on my own but a quick mock placement has me thinking that it'd be a job better suited to Borderline or maybe 5thGear. Besides... I definitely won't be the one painting them.
So the fun begins with me taking everything apart and giving the bike a nice thorough cleaning before moving on to anything else. I haven't been this excited about working on the bike since I bought my exhausts
