man... that speed wobble seems to come out of nowhere. and only at about 180 or 190KM/h. that's scary.

See the snow on the ground and the road conditions during that speed wobble? Man, that woulda been a cold ride at 240kph.

i always thought the faster you go, the more stable the bike gets?
something to do with the gyroscopic effect of the spinning wheels.

Well thats what they taught us at Action. Thats so scary, since i think we've all had those hooligan moments.
    RIP rider.

azn, on smooth road no problem. But if the bike hits something that upsets it then any bike can get into a violent slapper at almost any speed. The things that have caused wobbles on my bikes have been many and varied over the years. Fortunetly I've only had 3 or 4 crazy slappers and in all cases they damped out.

One of the more common causes is landing high speed wheelies with slightly crossed front wheel. But the reasons are many and various. If you ride long enough you'll get a few. I suspect that you've already had a few mild wobbles.

Yes - I think alignment issues are the main problem - and if the rider attempts to "control" the slapper by applying pressure or gripping harder they end up compounding the problem.

And DCBC don't get me going on helmets again - those threads are starting to die out

Edit: Reposting the link since it isn't on the front page any more

That was a huge pot hole he hit that caused the wobble.
