poor timing for this post, as there are few to no new riders out there now, but i just bailed last night for the first time, just lost it in a small patch of gravel on a sharp corner, and i was only doing about 40 km/h.
my words to all new riders, get the gear all these guys are talking about. i lowsided and everted my already sprained ankle, and bashed my knee and shoulder, and smacked my head on the pavement pretty nice. my head is completely fine (thank you full-face helmet), and my knee and shoulder should be fine in a few days, the ankle in about a week, but had i not had my textile jacket, jeans, and 8 inch boots on, i probably would have really hurt my shoulder and forearm, had a massive bruise/cut on my knee, and maybe broken my ankle, ALL AT 40 KM/H.
i was able to get up almost immediately, and i thank god no one was coming towards me in the oncoming lane ( i fell into the other lane). so again thank goodness i had my gear on, and dont go out without it, cuz you can get bashed up even at low speed.
oh yeah, my bike will be fine, scraped up pretty nicely on the left side, but its old so i'm just gonna sand it down and spray paint it. another reason to get a crappy first bike.
and thank you to all the people who stopped to make sure i was ok and not run me over, it was appreciated.
looking forward to getting back on the road.
