I know there have been some threads before about LCDs, Plasmas and going HD, but I have a question about "newer" tv's that come with HD decoders built in and also have the capability of upconverting analogue signals.
Right now I have a CRT TV and basic cable but would like to get a new tv.
for a TV like this (link) that has a HD decoder built-in, I could technically see shows that are broadcast in HD while still only having basic cable and not buying a HD cable box right?
Could I save some money and just buy a regular digital box since the tv has the HD decoder?
Anyone have any experience with tv's that upconvert analogue signals? how does the picture look?
sorry, i'm a AV noob and can't seem to find "simple" answers to these questions online.
