A sensor has gone bad or a wire connection has come loose or gotten corroded from the weather. Or it may just be totally wet if you leave it outside. Park it under cover and preferably somewhere it's warmer and see if it fixes itself after it dries out.

Look for obvious things like wire harness connectors that are loose or pulled off down by the radiator heat sensor or in back of the instrument panel. You can check some of the fuses but in this case I think it's something more complex than that since the motor is running when the engine is cold so it's getting the wrong signal. That would suggest that the temperature switch in the radiator that controls the motor is SNAFU'd.

If it's not something like that or something else you find that is obvious then it's shop time I'm afraid. It just depends on how deep you are comfy with digging into the bike. It likely IS something simple but it may well be a complex task to find it. And their knowledge and experience is what you're paying them for.

maybe coolant temp sensor? The fan will run all the time when the temp signal is out of range.

temp sensor and temp gauges are usually 2 separate sensors, and they only work when submerged in coolant, make sure there's still coolant in the engine.

ok i found out what's wrong...i took it the fifth gear today cuz i gave up trying to screw around it. bill told me that its very rare and he never had to deal with any problems like this before, so all three of them tried figuring out what's wrong and became more of a challege. they look around and finally found some wired that are cut and opened it up to investigate...and guess what, i mouse somehow got inside and started chewing on the wires around the radiator...i guess that for the past few days that's been cold they were staying there and left some poopy evidence...so for all u guys and gals out there, put some mice trap around ur bike b4 u go thru what i did today...thank you for all the tips and advice and thanks to fifth gear with all the patience and help...

You're not the first person to suffer wire damage from mice or rats. For some reason they seem to really like the wire plastic. I've heard of a car that was stored under a cover for about a year. Mice got into it and bascially ate the entire wire harness under the engine hood and under the dash.
