can sleep right now!! Graveyard shift can kiss my ass!

I have to be up in a few hours to go to work, but just cant do it! the weather is so nice for this time of year, and would much rather be out riding in it.its strange, but when I was goin to college/university, I enjoyed working graveyards.I mean I was already up late writing papers etc, so the graveyards worked for me. Now I really feel physically sick when I do them.
five and a half years I did these 12 hour shifts, followed by a year of normal 10 hour daytime shifts....now am back where I started. I alos get to see my wife a couple of days a week, followed by brief 10 to 20 minute helos and good byes before heading off to work. I know that there are studies done on people ho work graveyard shifts, and they aren't postive ones....i really feel like shit lately

Anyhoo, rant over. And I will try and get a couple hours of sleep now

Yah, i used to work graveyards and they can be tough. Sounds like you may be near done though. Maybe a change is necessary before you become to cranky and cagey.

I get to work 6:30PM - 2:30AM tomorrow. Weird shift. Worse for me 'cause my regular shift is 7:00AM - 3:00PM. Not going to be used to it. At least I'll be home before I hit that 4:00AM wall.

Cory, it shouldn't be too long until you have no problem sleeping through the day (at least when it's raining it's hard to feel so bad). I try & sleep until mid-day then get up for a few hours to get some stuff done (I've even been known to head out on a ride) and then have an afternoon nap. Then at least you're spending a bit of time in the daylight being productive.

Oh, and you're right - graveyards suck big time!!!

I find it gets easier if I have a few nights in a row but then the next two days are a mess.

I've been working graveyards for the last 12 years, SUCKS ASS!!!. I work the 10pm to 6am. It's nice in summer cause it's always bright but shitty in winter cause you never see the sun.
