Alright, I have a working DVD-ROM *LG DVD* out of my computer and im trying to install it on my mothers computer. The drive worked find in my comp... but its not on this other computer. I have the jumpers set to master *only cd-rom in this computer* on the drive its self, hooked up the power and the ribbon cable.
Restarted the comp (running XPhome) It recognizes it as a plug and play dvd drive... but nothing else. I can't use it... it opens so it has power. its showing up in the device manager but with a yellow exclamation mark on it.
If you open up my computer the HD and the floppy icons show up but not the CD drive...
I have found and d/l the drivers off opendrivers.com but there are no files only an installer, but since the computer isn't recognizing the drive so i can't install the drivers. *GDR8163B*
Ive tryed to uninstall and reinstall.. but nothing... I dunno anything about bios or cmos.. or any of that... so im not sure if thats my problem.
When I goto the properties of the devices it says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
There is no troubleshooting guide either.
