I don't know exactly what the rules are concerning ICBC and if/when you crash your vehicle or somebody crashes into you. Lets say it's kinda nasty but you're alright (in your car not on your bike)....
It's my belief that I can tell the tow truck driver to tow my vehicle to my residence, NOT the ICBC inspection yard. I'd end up paying for the towing bill but ICBC would be welcome to take it away once I'm done with it.
My point with all this is, if you have lots of high-end audio gear, fancy rims, etc in your ride, once it's in ICBC's yard you'll have a damn tough time getting your gear. From experience with my bro's 92' Jetta that was a right-off from a rear ender (Richmond driver on the cellphone Mercedes SUV 60km/h up the backside), they wouldn't allow us to remove his car audio gear in their yard and it was some complicated procedure to have towed out/back in. They removed the gear but his cd deck was damaged and all the expensive RCA/power cables remained in the wreck. Pissed me off royally.
Anyway.... am I within my rights to take my vehicle home or is that against the law... seeing as I own it, not ICBC until I f'n say so.
