This fellow claims to have stolen about 150ish sportbikes in the lower mainland. What he told me is not good news for bike owners and confirms what most people already know. Hope some of this info helps you keep your ride.
-If a thief knows where your bike is and wants it he will get it. Period. They just need more tools, time, and help.
-Gixxer 1000 is most popular for him and his cronies.
-Only 10 to 15 seconds to defeat most stock anti-theft.
-Watch out for minivans. His favorite mode of transport.
-Worst place to leave your bike is underground parking hands down.
-He and the thieves he know each keep a bike and joyride all summer.
-They are using torches to defeat security that hacksaws and prytools can't.
-The bikes are carried into vehicles when stolen.
-He believes that 07 models with immobilizers can't be started after the ignition is messed with, and they are not going to be popular with his crew.
I'll see if this guy will give up any more info in future and add to the list. Just need to get him in a bragging mood. It may be all BS but could help you decide where and how to store your bike.
